Sheffield TUC’s 165th AGM – report

Yes it’s true- Sheffield TUC had its 165th Annual General Meeting last week. Established in 1858 it is 164 years old and the oldest Trades Council in the country. We are still going strong! Please see our Annual Report attached  Sheffield TUC Annual Report 2022, plus the AGM draft minutes Sheffield TUC AGM 165th draft minutes which include the speeches given by Gareth Lane BFAWU National Organiser and Jesse Palmer our new Union Organiser. Our remarkable partnership with BFAWU is bringing trade union organisation to unorganised workers – many of them young, mostly BAME and many of them female – who are on desperately low wages, insecure employment and treated appallingly by their bosses. We are making a real difference! Thank you to all those union branches, Labour Party branches, other organisations and individuals who have donated to our Organiser Fund to make this possible. You can make a donation to our Organiser Fund by bacs payment to Account name: Sheffield Trade Union Council  account no: 59109499   sort code: 60-83-01. Please use reference Union Organiser.

Our Officers and Executive Committee members were re-elected ( please see below ). But we have plenty of vacancies! We need a Treasurer ( the Secretary is currently doing this job as well), another Auditor (sadly we lost our dear friend and comrade Ian Furness PCS earlier this year) and there are several vacancies on our Executive Committee. Nominations please from affiliated union branches.

Is your union branch affiliated? If not it should be! Please ask your Branch Secretary – you’ll find an affiliation form attached here Sheffield TUC affiliation form 2022
