Strike update and solidarity support

From tomorrow Thursday 24th November a new wave of strike action is taking place. Please see strike dates and picket line info on poster (below and attached). Sheffield TUC is committed to maximising support for workers who are on strike faced with rocketing price inflation (RPI 14%) that is not of our making. In many cases the strikes are also about jobs and a fundamental attack on working conditions as well.

Sheffield TUC is hosting a strike solidarity rally next Wednesday 30th November 12 noon Barkers Pool with speakers from UCU, CWU and NEU (6th Form Colleges) who will all be striking on that day

 

 

We now have new strike dates from RMT. 4x 2-day strikes on Network Rail as follows:

0200hrs Tuesday 13th December to 0159hrs Thursday 15th December

0200hrs Friday 16th December to 0159hrs Sunday 18th December

0200hrs Tuesday 3rd January to 0159hrs Thursday 5th January

0200hrs Friday 6th January to 0159hrs Sunday 8th January

Plus overtime ban from 18th December to 2nd January

Tomorrow, the University and College Union (UCU), Communication Workers Union (CWU) and Educational Institute Scotland (EIS) are all taking national strike action.

 

This means a whopping 190,000+ workers will be taking action.

 

These comrades need our support, so we are asking all supporters to get down their nearest picket line, using the buttons below, there is one for each union.

Before you visit, here are our tips to make sure it is successful:
Step 1:
Use our solidarity email function, contact the local branch to check picket days and times, as well as if the strike is still active. A model email you can use is here.

 

Step 2:
Arrange a date for you and your comrades, bring any banners you may have, the home made ones are often the best.

 

Step 3:
Take photos of your group at the picket line and upload them to social media, making sure to tag in Strike Map UK #strikemapuk #strikeclub.

 

Step 4:
Send us a short note via direct message or email of how you found it, so we can encourage others to sign up to visit a picket.
