Saturday 27th October “Stop and Scrap Universal Credit” Rally
1130-1330 Outside Town Hall. Organised by Disabled People Against the Cuts (DPAC) and Sheffield Labour Party. Supported by Sheffield TUC, Sheffield People’s Assembly etc. Speakers include Louise Haigh MP. Universal Credit is scheduled to be rolled out into Sheffield in November. It will devastate lives of 60,000-80,000 families in the poorest parts of our city. Come and show your support. Bring union banners please.

Monday 29th October Budget Day protest – No more Austerity, Invest for our Future!
5pm to 6pm Outside Town Hall, Pinstone Street. When Chancellor Philip Hammond announces his Autumn Budget, we’ll be protesting against continued austerity and the shrinking of the state. We need the alternative of public investment, good jobs and making the rich pay their taxes. Speakers, lots of noise and food bank collection. Organised by Sheffield People’s Assembly.

Tuesday 30th October Cuba Solidarity Campaign film showing “Maestra”
6pm at The Hubs (opposite the Showroom, on Paternoster Row) in the boardroom and starting at 6pm. We’ll show the inspirational film Maestra, about the first Cuban literacy campaign, after the revolution. In association with Hallam University Students Union   See flyer: Maestra at SHU (1)

Tuesday 30th October “Free Our Unions” pamphlet launch
7pm to 8.30pm Central United Reform Church, 60 Norfolk Street S1 2JB. The Clarion has launched a pamphlet to help activists understand and support the fight for trade union freedom in the UK. Speakers; Bev Laidlaw PCS Sheffield DWP, Sam Morecroft UCU Sheffield Uni; Edd Mustill, Clarion and GMB.

Thursday 8th November “Support Northern Train Guards” RMT Public Meeting
6pm Showroom Cinema, 15 Paternoster Row, Sheffield S1 2BX. Speakers: Steve Hedley RMT AGS, Louise Haigh MP. RMT guards have bene standing solid, determined and united on Northern Rail in the continuing fight for safety, security and access on our trains. Most other rail companies have agreed to keep the guard on the train, so why not Northern?

Tuesday 13th November, Protest rally to stop closure of Disability Centres in Rotherham
1000hrs outside Addison centre in Maltby. Addison is one of the 5 centres earmarked for decommissioning in the next 2 years. Rotherham, Council’s decision impact not only on the users of the service but the wider community. Supported by Rotherham TUC

Saturday 17th November National Demonstration against Racism and Fascism in London
Coach leaves The Hubs, Paternoster Row, Sheffield, S1 2QQ at 8am and will depart London at approx. 4pm. Cost per person £20 (£10 concession) return.
