Very much saddened to hear the news today that Dave Gibson Chair of Barnsley Trade Union Council has died. He had been bravely fighting cancer for several months. Dave was a committed and sincere trade unionist, a tirless campaigner and a great comrade and friend. He was a driving force behind the South Yorkshire Freedom Riders campaign and did much to bring Barnsley Trade Union Council into the wider community, fighting against the vicious attacks on our class from the Tories’ austerity policies, and.always ensuring the Barnsley TUC banner was present at picket lines, We are very sorry to lose you Dave.
