To Ben Jamal and Chris Nineham
Sheffield Trade Union Council, representing many trade unions branches across our city, sends our solidarity and support to both of you as you face a day in Westminster Magistrates Court on Monday 23rd February for alleged public order offences at a PSC London demonstration for Palestine on 18th January 2025.
The public orders charges you face are an outrageous attempt by the Metropolitan Police and Her Majesty’s Government to intimidate and prevent protest and support for Palestine, whilst the UK continues to actively support Israel’s genocide in Gaza, and give diplomatic and political support to Israeli apartheid and the oppression of the Palestinian people.
The restrictions placed on the protest that day were unfair and unjustified and the fact that the police openly allowed you to pass shows they are guilty themselves of entrapment.
We sincerely hope the charges are thrown out on Monday but whatever the outcome we assure you that you have our support and we will continue to fight for a Free Palestine
Yours in solidarity
