Thursday 11th June Public Meeting: The Future of Universities in Sheffield

6pm-7:30pm, Channing Hall

The Trade Unions (UCU, Unison, GMB and Unite) of Sheffield Hallam University, University of Sheffield and Sheffield International College, are holding a public meeting to discuss the future of Higher Education and Universities in Sheffield. We are urgently calling this meeting to outline our concerns about the future of the Universities in Sheffield and to highlight the impact that job cuts, restructures and threats to T&Cs are having on the Sheffield city region and our community. This meeting is open to the general public, staff and students from the Universities, local politicians, trade unions and the media.

The event is free to attend but it is essential to register. Sign up for your ticket here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/public-meeting-the-future-of-higher-education-universities-in-sheffield-tickets-1990099653636?aff=oddtdtcreator

Friday 10th July  Eve of Miners Gala public meeting on history

6pm – 7.30pm Durham City Methodist Church, 8 Old Elvet, Durham, DH1 3HL

Rise will be at Durham Miners’ Gala and on the eve of the Gala, we’re
hosting an essential conversation about the past, present and future of
working-class struggle.
The political, economic & social period we’re living through is
overwhelming. It’s hard to know where to begin. How do we build power?
How do we challenge the conditions shaping our lives and communities?
We’re bringing together voices from historic struggles including those
involved in the 1984–85 Miners’ Strike alongside organisers of working
class struggle today. We’ll explore the lessons of the past and how we
use that wisdom to win now.
Speaker details coming soon.

Sheffield Transformed have teamed up with Troublemakers at Work to put on an event aimed at trade union members with an interest in becoming more active.

If you branch is able to make a donation, take the motion to Trades Council, include information about the event in your communications to members or on social media, or discuss the event in your branch meetings we would be very grateful!
