SHEFFIELD NEEDS A PAY RISE!
Our Sheffield Union Organiser Jesse Palmer has already made a dramatic difference, linking up many young exploited workers, revitalising our Sheffield Needs a Pay Rise Campaign, developing and training young workers and activists, and recruiting new union members! See background info here: a brief history of SNAP by Martin Mayer
Our recent union organising drive at Cutlery Works won a 44% pay rise for many of the workers there, an end to zero hours contracts and other benefits. This has been a siren call to other fast food workers in the city to join a union!
Under the agreement with BFAWU, Sheffield TUC and BFAWU share the costs of employing Jesse. We are currently paying £12 per hour but we will need to give him a well-deserved pay rise for 2023. Together with a share of employment on-costs, Sheffield TUC needs to raise £15,000 as our contribution for next year.
2023 TARGET £15,000
ALREADY RAISED: £6,239.97
NEED TO RAISE: 8,760.03
WE THINK THIS IS MONEY REALLY WELL SPENT FOR A REALLY IMPORTANT INVESTMENT IN THE FUTURE OF TRADE UNIONISM IN SHEFFIELD
These monies are entirely dependent on donations from the local trade union and labour movement in Sheffield, as well as personal donations, with the rest funded by BFAWU via the Fast Food Rights campaign.
Can your union branch (or other organisation) help to fund this vital project to unionise Sheffield’s low paid workers and raise their pay and conditions?
