Saturday 4th April “Racism not Welcome in Sheffield”
Assemble 1115hrs Hallam Square. Local “Raise the Colours” far right group intends to rally in Sheffield to spread racist myths and blame migrants for austerity cuts etc.
The comment threads surrounding the event are filled with open hostility toward migrants, asylum seekers, and, in many cases, anyone perceived to be of Middle Eastern or Muslim background. Calls for violence and dehumanising rhetoric are not only present but go unchallenged by organisers, and are often echoed by prominent figures within the group. One particularly disturbing post comes from main organiser Lee Shipley, who wrote that he hoped windy weather would cause migrant boats to sink, resulting in their deaths. Organised by Sheffield Communities against Racism and Fascism. See their website for more detailshttps://www.sheffieldcarf.org/2026/04/countering-flags-on-lamposts-group-in.html

Tuesday 28th April International Workers memorial Day
1230hrs by the Memorial Tree outside Sheffield Town Hall, Pinstone Street.
Sheffield TUC will hold a wreath laying ceremony with speeches outside Sheffield Town Hall by the Memorial Tree. Branches and other organisation are invited to lay a wreath. This is an international trade union event to mark the importance of health and safety at work. The TUC says “Every year more people are killed at work than in wars. Most don’t die of mystery ailments, or in tragic “accidents”. They die because an employer decided their safety just wasn’t that important a priority. International Workers Memorial Day (IWMD) 28 April commemorates those workers.”
