We can and must stand up and demand a better deal for workers! This Government is desperately trying to scale back state support for workers and has been forced into many u-turns already. Its failure to handle the Coronavirus pandemic has now led us into a second wave and as we enter Tier 3, too many workers are losing their jobs or losing income. Most affected are low wage workers in the hospitality sector who can least afford a drop in earnings. Saturday 31st October is the last day of the 80% furlough scheme, and although it was far from perfect, it did protect jobs.

The new schemes that replace it all offer worse income protection – down to just 67% of earnings. Millions are available to support businesses and the Government keeps on handing out lucrative contracts to private corporations, yet low paid workers ar ebeing made to pay the price of the crisis. Come and join us on Saturday to show this Government we are not taking it lying down!
