Sheffield Trade Union Council says: “It’s time to stand up and oppose Israeli Apartheid”

We support Palestinian Trades Unions’ appeal to boycott Israeli goods, end arms sales, and for UN to investigate Israeli apartheid and to reconstitute the UN Special Committee against Apartheid and the UN Centre against Apartheid.

Sheffield TUC stands in solidarity with Palestinian Trade Unions who issued a join letter on 10th April to condemn Israeli apartheid. This follows a recent disturbing upsurge in Israeli state violence against Palestinians, including an unprovoked military assault on Palestinian Muslim worshippers inside Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem. This comes against the background of further moves by the new far-right Israeli Government to extend its control over East Jerusalem and support for Jewish extremists who are demanding access and control over the Temple of the Mount, as well as the intensification of Israeli state oppression of Palestinians across the Occupied West bank and Gaza.

Sheffield TUC is proud to be a founding member of the Sheffield Palestine Israeli Anti-Apartheid Coalition launched in November last year, alongside Sheffield Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Sheffield Labour friends of Palestine and Kairos. We are calling on Sheffield City Council to declare our city an Israeli Apartheid-Free Zone and to increase awareness and support for these aims among Sheffield citizens, and the economy and our communities. see latest coalition news here: News from Palestine and Sheffield, plus Coalition Events
