Thursday 5th July “Winning a transformative Labour government for the many, not the few” A discussion hosted by Sheffield Momentum.
7pm (refreshments from 6.30), upstairs at the Central United Reformed Church
Speakers: Richard Burgon, Labour MP for East Leeds; Chris Peace, Labour prospective parliamentary candidate for North East Derbyshire. In last year’s general election, Labour’s platform of investing in growth, jobs and higher living standards secured the biggest increase in our share of the vote since 1945. The local elections this year consolidated and built on those advances, with Labour winning more seats than at the high watermark of 2014. In this meeting, we’ll be discussing how we can maintain this campaigning momentum and put a Corbyn-led Labour Party into government. We invite all Sheffield Labour Party members and supporters to join the debate and discussion.

Tuesday 10th July “What is happening in Nicaragua?” Public Meeting

Organised by Sheffield-Estelí Society. Flyer attached SHEFFIELD ESTELI SOCIETY PUBLIC meeting 10 July 2018

Friday 13th July   Sheffield Together Against Trump Protest

5pm Sheffield City Hall, Barker’s Pool, Sheffield S1 2JA. Donald Trump is now coming to Britain on 13th July – unlucky for him!
Organised by Stand Up to Trump (a range of campaigns against war, austerity and racism, as well as public figures who have pledged to mobilise against a Trump visit) and the Stop Trump Coalition (a network of grassroots campaigns, unions, NGOs and politicians initiated by journalist Owen Jones in February 2017).  Both organisations have come together for a one-off massive national demonstration under the banner of Together Against Trump on Friday 13th July. We will also have a protest in Sheffield on the same day and there will be many others in other towns and cities across the UK against his politics of racism, war and hate.

These demonstrations aren’t just about Trump. The treatment of the Windrush generation has highlighted the British elite’s disgraceful record of racism and bigotry. This is a fight against our own “hostile environment” as well as the American government.
